Firefighter/EMT Job Posting

The Oxford Fire/Rescue Department is accepting applications for Per-Diem Firefighter/EMT.

The Town of Oxford is seeking highly skilled, self-motivated individuals for Per-Diem Fire suppression and EMS related work.  The Town of Oxford provides 911 Fire/EMS coverage for the town’s population of 4500; approximately 640 EMS calls and 280 Fire calls annually. Eligible candidates must possess a minimum of FF1/EMT, AEMT certifications. 

Applicants must hold a current Maine EMS License, a valid Maine Driver’s License, completion of an approved Emergency Vehicle Operations Course and a High School Diploma or equivalent. 

All candidates must pass a back ground check, pre-employment physical, and participate in an interview process.

Normal scheduled hours are 0600-1800. Four Per-Diems are scheduled per day Monday through Friday, two assigned to the ambulance and two assigned to the fire apparatus. There are two Per-Diems scheduled on Saturday and Sunday assigned to the ambulance. Pay is hourly with a probationary period of 6 months. Starting pay $12.44 to $17.06 depending on qualifications.

The Town of Oxford is accepting applications for the position of Transfer Station Manager.

The Transfer Station Manager will lead a department of 2 full-time employees and is considered a “working manager”.  Must have the ability to perform routine maintenance on buildings and operate equipment to include a front end loader. Experience with the operation and maintenance of a municipal solid waste transfer facility is preferred.  Must have knowledge of state and federal laws regarding solid waste disposal; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and hold a valid Class “C” driver’s license. Basic computer skills; Word, Excel and Internet are required.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Town officials, employees, contractors and the public. Previous management and daily work plan experience a must.
