BOARD OF SELECTMEN
The Board of Selectmen is composed of five (5)members elected at large in the Town of Oxford for staggered three year terms. The Board conducts business meetings; open to the public, on the first and third Thursdays of each month. The Selectmen represent the policy-making body of the Town under the “Home Rule” state law, Title 30-A MRSA, Town Ordinances, and the Town Meeting Warrant.

BOARD OF ASSESSORS
The Board of Selectmen also serves as the Board of Assessors. The Assessors are directed by the State Bureau of Taxation, under Title 36 MRSA, to fairly assess all real and personal property in the town and to report, annually, that assessment to the Tax Collector for the purpose of proper taxation.

BUDGET COMMITTEE
This 11 member committee reviews and makes recomendations on all money articles for the Town warrant presented at Town Meeting. Usually meets for several consecutive weeks in March/April.

RECREATION COMMITTEE
The objective of this Committee is to work in cooperation with the Town Manager, Selectmen, Recreation Department Director, and other organizations involved in the town’s recreation activities to propose, plan, create and implement programs and events to benefit all residents and taxpayers in the Town of Oxford. The Recreation Committee’s purpose is to provide guidance to the Recreation Director.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
This 5 member board serves in an advisory capacity to assist the Municipal official in the encouragement of economic development activities which will increase the tax base and promote the expansion and retention of the employment base and makes recommendations concerning economic development policy, use of donated land and buildings, funding for outside economic development agencies; CDBG, EDA, RDA grant applications.

CEMETERY COMMITTEE
The 7 member cemetery committee is responsible for making annual recomendations for budget, proposing by-laws and ordinance updates, and regulating the care and custody of all burial grounds and cemeteries for which the Town of Oxford has responsibility for care and maintenance.
