FREE COUPON is available at the Transfer Station which is good from July 1st to June 30th. This allows the following:

  • 2 free tires
  • 1 Refrigerator, Freezer, AC, or Dehumidifier free
  • 1 Couch or Chair
  • 1 Mattress or Box spring  (any size)
Only 1 coupon will be issued per household per Fiscal Year. Coupons will not be issued to businesses
IMPORTANT NOTE:  All carpet, carpet backing, pool liners, pool covers, boat wrappers, or any large piece or roll of material  MUST BE CUT INTO LESS THAN 3 FOOT SQUARES OR TIED / TAPED SECURELY INTO ROLLS 3FEET LONG
ROOM SIZE CARPETS CAN BE PUT INTO DEMOLITION FOR A FEE OF $5.00 EACH
Most Vacuum Cleaners and Carpet Cleaners that are mostly plastic, go right into the regular trash. If its mostly metal we will put it into metal bin (bucket) Ask attendant if any question.
HOLIDAYS: Transfer Station employees must take a day off for all holidays. If the holiday falls on a Monday, we take off that Wednesday of the same week.  If it fall on a Thursday, we generally take Friday the next day off. We post the Holidays way ahead to let people know our days off.
UNIVERSAL WASTE:  We accept all universal Waste at no charge to the customer.  This includes all TV’s, Monitors, Computers, Laptops, Printers, Peripherals, Fluorescent Bulbs (all shapes &sizes), Compact Fluorescents, Mercury Thermostats, Any Mercury containing switch, Mercury Thermometers, and NiCad (Rechargeable) Batteries.  Fluorescent Bulbs should be brought in separately to the Transfer Station Office for Disposal. Once any Computer is delivered to us. It is AGAINST THE LAW TO REMOVE ANYTHING OF UNIVERSAL WASTE (COMPUTERS, MONITORS, ETC.) FROM THE TRANSFER STATION.
NOTHING SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE TRANSFER STATION OR RECYCLING BUILDING WITHOUT CHECKING WITH THE ATTENDANT ON DUTY FIRST.
We don’t accept waste oil or antifreeze under any circumstances.  The waste oil can be taken to Walmart which will accept 5 gallons a day.  Stetsons Garage can also be called and asked and will usually gladly accept it as well as long as no gas or antifreeze is in it.
OXFORD TRANSFER CANNOT ACCEPT ANY HAZARDOUS WASTE OF ANY KIND!!!
The “Environmental Depot” in Auburn, Maine will accept Household Hazardous Waste (HHW). The disposal fees are the responsibility of the owner of the HHW. Please call 207-786-7390 for hours of operation or www.envdepot.com for further information.

The Town of Oxford is seeking sealed bids for paving the Allen Hill Road.  The job consists of a 20’ X 9000’ section of the road.  A scope of work and bid documents are available at the Oxford Town Office and on the town website at www.oxfordmaine.org.  The deadline for submission of bids is Noon on August 15, 2016.

 

The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids, in whole or in part.

RECYCLING HIGHLIGHTS

MATERIALS ACCEPTED AT THE RECYCLING CENTER & TRANSFER

  • NEWSPRINT – Newspapers & all contents and flyers: magazines, catalogs, paperbacks, etc.
  • MIXED PAPER – Most envelopes, junk mail, cereal boxes, wrapping paper, dry food boxes
  • GLASS – bottles and jars only, must be clean, labels OK,   NO WINDOW GLASS or BULBS
  • #2 NATURAL PLASTICRINSE CLEAN, Jugs, (eg. milk, water, windshield wash, vinegar, OJ, etc.)
  • #2 COLORED PLASTICRINSE CLEAN, Bottles, Jugs, laundry soap, bleach, most hair products, etc.
  • ALUMINUM & TIN CANS NEED TO BE CLEAN: all tin cans, cat food, etc.
  • METAL – All White Goods, (eg. stoves, dryers, washers, ranges, mowers, snow blowers) OIL & GAS removed
  • DEMOLITION – wood: (painted, stained, w/nails), plywood, chipboard, sheetrock, pressure treated, doors, windows, door casings, etc. ALL ARE RECYCLED    DO NOT LEAVE TRASH OR RECYCLABLES IN WOOD COLLCTION AREA!
  • LEAVES, GRASS CLIPPINGS,  FOOD WASTES,SAWDUST, SHAVINGS– shredded and made into compost
  • PINE NEEDLES, BRUSH, AND TREES – All go into brush pile and chipped for Biomass (no length limit) [no stumps]
  • PAINT – All Household liquid paints, to include Latex, Oil, Stains. MUST have label and cans not rusted through, the  EXCEPTIONS are Automotive Paints, Driveway Sealers, Paint Thinners, Epoxy paints, and Marine paints, Rubber Sealers. MOST EXCEPTIONS TO PAINT RECYCLING CAN BE DRIED OUT WITH SPEEDI DRI AND PUT INTO REGULAR TRASH.             EMPTY PAINT CANS (DRY) GO INTO REGULAR TRASH
